HD DVD

Well it seems as though Flash Drives won't be the dominate portable storage device for another few years or so. With the release of the HD DVD now endorsed by Intel and Microsoft it seems as though a DVD will be able to have a capacity of 15 GB on a single layer and 30 GB on a double. This comes at a bit of a surprise because of Blu-ray coming onto the scene not too shortly.

Will this new HD DVD format be the new dominate portable memory storage device?

True; but what steps can be taken to get around issues such as these? A clear mind and someone who's as careful as is needed to treat parts as they should be treated. Also; about the burn speed; Burn Speeds for the HD DVD are most likely NOT going to get faster. Only so much data can be put on to the DVD physically; and it's size prevents the burning process from being so quick. But think of this Frio; how long does it take to transfer 30 GB of random files to another Hard Drive? Well; I'm sure the burning process and that transfer time would even out; don't ya think?

Flash Drive + USB 2.0 capability + 32 GB Capacity = 1 hour transfer time; realistically speaking. However; theoretically and Mathematically at a transfer rate of 480 M/bits per second a 32 GB transfer should only take 8.9 minutes.
