Intel Fires Thousands

Intel has around 100,000 employees currently working for them. Therefore, firing off around 10,000 or so wouldn't be that big of an issue; but it wouldn't aid the unemployment rate. Firing 10% of a company's staff may very well prove to be a useful money-making strategy. Perhaps the 10,000 employees were the ones dragging their feet on development or simply leaching money from the company.

Will cutting jobs look like a "good" thing in the public's eyes?

Yeah, however, their stock has apparently plummited; Guess the public investors really didn't like their job-cutting.

really doesn't intel remmember what happened LAST time they pulled crap like this....isn't that how AMD was born? the ppl that intel gave the ax...whats intel trying to do drive themselves into the ground by possible creating another competitor for themsleve....just doesn't seem smart to me. at any rate seeing hw investors arnt liking that, they shouldint be doing that. even if the ppl they aare firing don't start thier own company they might even be picked up by AMD or some other company....i'm sure some smaller processor company(if there is any) would like ot know a little bout intel processor architecture :p

to answer the question no i don't think mass fireing is ever good in the publiks eyes....yes we all hate intel but we don't hate the ppl there they need jobs too it's sad that ppl are gonna lose thier jobs hopefully they'll get picked up and back on thier feet soon....good luck guys....and....DEATH TO INTEL * fires AK47 indiscriminatly into the air yelling "AMD be praised" *
